This article is for how to properly restart the 7th Sense video servers if the projection in One Ocean Hall begins to become unstable. Some reasons for needing a reboot include if the projection audio falls out of sync with the video or an error message shows up anywhere on the projection surfaces.
Restarting 7th Sense Media Servers
1) Before rebooting the servers, turn off all twelve projectors involved with the projection system in One Ocean Hall through the Q-Sys app in the iPad.
Also in the iPad, in the One Ocean Hall page, mute the "Video Server" volume. This will prevent the audio associated with the projection from playing automatically at full volume after restarting the 7th sense servers. If you're muting this audio through Q-Sys Designer/connecting to the SEACORE, this control will be labeled 'Media Mute.'
In the Rare Volume content app, mute the content using the controls in the top right hand corner.
2) Next, open two separate tabs on a web browser and type the IP address for the Leader server (10.61.165.50) in one tab and the one for the Follower Server (10.61.165.53) in the other.
3) To minimize issues when the servers come back online, it is best to completely restart the Follower and allow it to fully come back online before restarting the Leader. To do this, on the page for the Follower, select the "control" tab on the left side of the web portal. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Restart Server button. The restart process can take about five minutes. The web page may time out during the restart so it may need to be refreshed to see if the server has fully rebooted.
4) Once the Follower is back online, repeat the same steps for the Leader.
5) When both servers are back online, turn all twelve projectors back on. This can take about two to five minutes for all projectors to power up. Go to the Rare Volume app and select content for the system to play. For testing the sync of audio and video make sure to select a narrative video with subtitles. Remember to unmute the video/media server volume in both Q-Sys and in the Rare Volume app to be able to hear the content.
6) If all is working normally, the servers should be ok at this point. If something still doesn't look right either during or after the reboot process, see the troubleshooting section.
Troubleshooting During or After Rebooting
Issue: You try entering the the proper IP addresses to take you to the web portal but even with the right IP you are taken to the web portal of a different 7th sense device. When you try to select the right one with the drop down menu it will only show the other devices and not the one you are looking for. This sometimes happens when the servers need to be rebooted and can be solved by following the steps below.
1) To access the servers with out the web portal you will first need to have UltraVNC Viewer installed on your computer. Then open a session with UltraVNC viewer and enter the IP address of the device you are trying to access (example photo is the follower server) and then select "connect." When prompted for a password, enter in 7th.
2) Once in the server, you will usually be shown a screen of what the projection system is showing but since you are rebooting, close out of all applications and then go to the " Start" menu at the bottom left corner of the screen and select the power options and then "restart" just like any other Windows computer. Give the server at least five full minutes to restart. When the server restarts, you will lose your connection with UltraVNC viewer so feel free to close out of the session.
3) To see if the server has restarted, go to the web portal for the device that was just restarted. If it has rebooted, you should be able to see it through the web portal. If not, give it a little bit more time and then try refreshing the page. Once it is online, it should be viewable from the drop down menu at the top of the web portal.
Issue: The servers reboot but the placement of the projection does not look right on the projection surfaces.
Issue: The projectors have not been assigned leader and follower properly.
1) Open the laptop in the rack and open the 7th Sense File ONE OCEAN HALL Group 1 GIU 2 8 14 file on the desktop.
2) The RSeries09E70 server should be assigned as the follower. Before making any changes, pause the ongoing video feed by clicking the stop button on the bottom left corner of the page by the timeline. Then go into Configure > Preferences
3) The system menu should pop up for the server you were selected on. If it is assigned improperly, you can change it in the server type dropdown menu.
4) Then go to the Startup and File Load Menu. Make sure all the bottom checkboxes are checked EXCEPT for the Save and Load from Show File box. Hit ok and your servers should be assigned to the proper roles.
5) To have the video feed start playing again hit the play button on the bottom left corner of the page by the timeline.
